ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Rebecca Wonderley and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing here in the Valley since the beginning of 2020.  January 1, 2021, I opened my own practice, Wonderley Counseling Services LLC, in Waynesboro.  I offer both in-person and virtual counseling depending on what best suits your needs and preferences. It has been a personal dream to establish my counseling practice in the Shenandoah Valley where I was raised, and I welcome the opportunity to work alongside you through whatever season of life you are going through.

EXPERIENCE

I have over 10 years of experience in the field and have worked in a variety of settings with a myriad of populations including a group home for children, a psychiatric hospital for both adults and children, crisis stabilization programs for both adults and children, and substance use treatment facilities. All of these experiences shaped me as a counselor and led me to the place I  am at today.

MY APPROACH

I consider myself to be oriented best with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, however, I often utilize techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy depending on the needs of the client.  In marriage counseling, I also utilize Gottman’s marriage therapy techniques and have found great success with this approach.  My first priority with each client is to develop a therapeutic relationship that centers around collaboration, empathy, and trust. It is my desire to see my clients progress within their lives and relationships as well as to assist them in achieving the goals they set for themselves. I strive to facilitate an environment where my clients are heard, encouraged, and provided with the tools needed in order to foster the growth and change they are seeking.
